                    • The Central People's Government and the local government of Tibet signed the Agreement on Measures for the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet (referred to as the 17-Article Agreement) in Beijing.
                    • The 15-year-old 14th Dalai Lama took over the reins of local government in Tibet.
                    • The People's Liberation Army marched toward Tibet.
                    • The People's Republic of China was established.
